Recruiters: Offer work experience

"Our online vacancy database is designed to give your opportunities maximum impact"

Whatever type of work experience opportunity you can offer - placements, summer internships, workshadowing, volunteering etc. - we can help you make contact with interested students.

We promise to advertise your opportunities within 5 working days of receiving them.

Placements and Summer Internships

Many of our courses require students to do a year's work placement between years 2 and 3 of their course, and all of them allow students to intercalate a year to gain work experience. In addition, many students look for vocationally relevant experience during the Summer vacations.

When we receive details of placement vacancies we do one of two things:

  • If you are only recruiting students studying a subject-specific course (e.g Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering) we will send the details to the appropriate members of staff in the relevant department.
  • If your vacancies are more generic and are open to students of various degrees, we will advertise them via our Jobs Online database. The database allows us to categorise your opportunities by type of work, degree subject required (if appropriate) and geographical location. It would help us if you could include this information in the details you send us. Email alerts are then sent out to students seeking work which match your requirements.

Pleas send details of your placement opportunities to careers@bradford.ac.uk, fax them to 01274 236200, or send to Career Development Services, University of Bradford, Bradford, BD7 1DP.

Work experience

The University, through our Excellence Plus programme, promotes the importance of gaining work experience, and many of our graduates will leave the University with significant work-based skills. Career Development Services inputs into this programme, by playing an active role in developing students' interpersonal skills, and through organising and encouraging participation in activities designed to develop employability skills.

Consequently, if you can offer work-based learning opportunities to our students, either paid or unpaid, short or long-term, please get in touch. We would be happy to discuss with you your opportunities and see how they can fit into our students' needs.

Extra information relating to International Students

The University of Bradford has a large number of international students from across the globe, bringing a huge range of talents and skills to Bradford. If you would like to employ one of our international students, but are not sure about the working regulations or how many hours they are eligible to work, etc, then please contact careers@bradford.ac.uk and we can then give you information and advice.
